WHY??? WHY???????????????????????

Now, when baking powder and baking soda were being named, why, in the name of all that is holy, did they decide to qualify both of their names with the word "baking"?

They could have named them anything - "Larry", "Bob", "Joe Schmoe's Amazing Powdery Stuff You Put In Your Food".

But, why, why, WHY would they decide that both of these items needed names involving the same, one, completely extraneous word?

Perhaps they were named by evil people, foreseeing that this similarity of names was going to make me (and millions of others like me) mess up innumerable recipes in the first several months of marriage.

I can hear them cackling now, the buttheads. Grrrrrr . . .

hehehehe.

Baking soda in particular is very evil. It makes cookies inedible. Don't ask me how I know.
